The Defense Trial Lawyers of Western New York Association (DTLA-WNY) Announces Annual awards For 2024
The Defense Trial Lawyers of Western New York Association (DTLA-WNY) announces that local attorney Nelson E. “Ned” Schule, Jr., will be awarded the highest honor bestowed by that organization: the Robert M. Kiebala Memorial Award as the 2024 Defense Trial Lawyer of the Year.
The award is presented to the attorney who best exemplifies the Association’s mission of “promoting the highest standard of trial conduct through member education and advocating the defense position in civil cases with the judiciary and where appropriate in the New York State legislature.”
Ned has been in practice in New York State for over 25 years and has served in many leadership roles in the legal community during that time, including as a past President of DTLA-WNY and Immediate Past President of the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. He is a partner at Kenney Shelton Liptak Nowak LLP, where he handles all aspects of civil litigation and defense, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, product liability, and professional malpractice.
Ned earned his Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Colgate University.
The DTLA’s 2024 Sherwood Civility Award is bestowed upon Daniel Archilla, Managing Attorney of the Law Office of Daniel Archilla, Staff Counsel for GEICO. He oversees a team of attorneys and support staff that handle cases throughout Western New York. Dan earned his Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University at Buffalo.
These awards will be given at the annual meeting on Wednesday, December 18, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Saturn Club. In addition, the following board members will be honored as their term comes to a close: Megan Organek, Joan Richter, and Peter Vincent. President Sean Spencer will turn over his duties to current vice-president Marc Schulz. Mr. Spencer will remain on the board for a one-year emeritus term.
